Dr. Barney’s Hawaiian Smiles is a family owned dental practice which began in the early 1950’s when Dr. Gordon Stratford, Dr. Barney’s Uncle, was one of the first dentists to open business in downtown Beaverton. Dr. David Barney joined the practice in 1977 after graduating from Northwestern Dental School in Chicago, and hoping to bring in his own Hawaiian flair having grown up on the North Shore of Oahu. After Dr. Stratford retired in 1985, Dr. Barney was ready to bring his own style to the practice, relocating to the growing area of South Beaverton in the Murrayhill Professional Suites, where Hawaiian Smiles was born. In 2008 Dr. Barney’s son, David graduated from OHSU Dental School and joined the practice, continuing the family tradition of high quality family dental care.
Both Dr. Barneys’ pride themselves on making every appointment a comfortable and pleasant experience. By incorporating sedation dentistry into our practice, we hope that more people, even the most apprehensive, can receive comfortable dental care.
